Help! I need to match my solid Australian Cypress floor...
Customer: "I'm trying to match my existing PRE-finished SOLID Australian Cypress floor, BUT my previous supplier doesn't carry it anymore!"
People who have bought Australian Cypress flooring from other suppliers, including e.g. Lumber Liquidators' Bellawood - aka the now-bankrupt LL Flooring* (see note at bottom of page) - find themselves stranded when they need more for their ongoing project. Customer: "Will your pre-finished solid Australian Cypress flooring MATCH my existing floor EXACTLY? " IMPORTANT: Ours has always been an independent product manufactured by our own mill with a SATIN FINISH, so see "THREE ANSWERS" below. We have NEVER stocked Bellawood. If you have their flooring, you have either a glossy finish or a matte finish - not satin like ours, so the best way to determine if our satin finish will suit your project is to order samples. Ditto if your Australian Cypress floor came from some other supplier. THREE ANSWERS: 1) If your existing solid floor has a satin finish, great, because our PRE-finished flooring does, too, so it should match. Order samples If you are trying to match Engineered flooring, be aware that ours has a matte finish. 2) For a perfect match to an existing high gloss or matte finish solid floor like Bellawood's or other suppliers', the best path is to buy our UNfinished flooring then sand and finish both your existing floor AND the new UNfinished flooring. Although it will involve the additional cost of sanding and finishing your entire floor, existing and new, that will give you a beautifully matched and uniform result. If you do this, you will find no visible difference except that ours is milled very smooth, ready for sanding and finishing. The benefit of this choice is also that the finish you choose to have your installer apply can be matched to any other flooring you already have. Order samples 3) If your existing flooring has/had a high gloss finish (like e.g. Bellawood Australian Cypress flooring), ours would likely tie-in well IF normal wear and tear has caused a patina that has reduced the glare of your previous supplier's gloss finish, OR if the two products are separated by e.g. a tiled or carpeted area. If you are fine with that or with putting our Satin finished flooring near your existing Australian Cypress floor from other suppliers or Bellawood, that's great, too. Order samples ONE OF THE NUTTY THINGS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TOLD "Supply is limited" is absolute nonsense!!! Some people have been told by their former supplier that they aren't carrying Australian Cypress flooring because of limited supply of Australian Cypress altogether. That's absolute nonsense!! 😁! LET ME GUESS: The person who told you that then suggested some other hardwood flooring altogether, right? It's a classic ploy. It's also why flooring companies that haven't stocked a particular flooring species for years still leave it on their website, so they can redirect you to a different hardwood flooring that they try to sell you. We’ve heard of companies trying to persuade clients to switch their preference to numerous other species that are nothing like Australian Cypress (e.g. Tigerwood - not even close because it’s reddish and stripey; Hickory - it has some knots but it’s just wrong because it is a really dull, brownish color; American Oak - SOOO common and different in color and grain). SO: Let's get a few things straight. We have our own independent Australian Cypress supply, relying entirely on our own raw material, sourced as shown on the map on this page. We've NEVER stocked Lumber Liquidators/ Bellawood flooring and have never had a relationship with their former Australia-side supplier. We have always sourced our Australian Cypress from a totally different forest, unlike Bellawood whose Aussie supplier stopped exporting into the U.S. nearly ten years ago. That particular supplier was based several hundred miles across the state border from our source forest. Same species, same wood, different forest, and different forestry permissions. |
Read our ORDER MINIMUMS Quality Wood and Specialized Process
We supply only Select Tight Knot (STK) export quality Australian Cypress in the U.S. This is the highest quality you can get anywhere, here or in Australia. We’ve never carried "seconds" or "cabin" grade or any other such marketing ploys used by quite a number of other companies in the U.S. market. We also think our flooring is superior because we use a different mill and finishing company. To start with, our Australian Cypress that is destined to become PRE-finished flooring is meticulously dried BEFORE finishing, and our finishing process has a couple of extra steps that others don’t do in their finishing process, so that the final result of our pre-finished flooring is a lovely smooth surface. Beautiful 💎 👑. We Specialize
We've specialized in Australian Cypress for over 40 years and we know what we are doing. It isn’t just one of hundreds of types of wood for us. We're Aussies and we actually care about it. You also get a wealth of knowledge and expertise when you buy Australian Cypress flooring from us.
